NEW: Special counsel Jack Smith files his SCOTUS brief in opposition to Trump's request for a stay in the presidential-immunity case—six days early
"A President’s alleged criminal scheme to overturn an election and thwart the peaceful transfer of power to his successor should be the last place to recognize a novel form of absolute immunity from federal criminal law."
Here is the old timeline I posted back in Feb 6. We are now in the Left column. arguments are now April 22. So ALito was able to drag it out about a month. you can adjust it as you see fit.
But #Chutkan could have her starter gun loaded and everything ready to start the Trial as soon as #SCOTUS makes a decision because everyone got a few extra months
#USAvsTRUMP #jan6th trial restarting in 90 Days.
Judge #Chutkan has already announced that she will re-start the trial about 90 days after she gets it back, election calendar be damned. A briefing schedule for which acts immunity is claimed under the newly-announced rule can fit within that time.
Clock restarted in #USAvsTRUMP after #SCOTUS returns ruling to appeals court and they quickly send it back to Judge #Chutkan to reassess
Very likely not have any hearings until after the Election
mission accomplished by #FedSoc and team Trump

Judge Tanya #Chutkan schedules Aug 16 status conference in Trump election conspiracy case #USAvsTrump here in DC
Trial start in October?
DOJ asks for more time to figure out its position on next steps for the immunity fight in the Trump election obstruction case. Judge #Chutkan had asked for proposals by tomorrow and set a hearing for next week. Special counsel asks to delay deadline until 8/30
Judge #Chutkan quickly approved Smith's three-week delay, a tacit acknowledgment that the case is unlikely to produce significant new developments this year, and a trial is a long way off. Next update Aug 30th
Also #Chutkan is refusing to accept amicus briefs from outside parties (looks at Kash Patel and Judge Cannon)

It's so strange that when ordinary people go to court, they have to just follow the judge's schedule, and if a lawyer has a problem the judge just rules on it then and there rather than setting a hearing for three months later.
Ordinary people do not spend Millions on lawyer fees to file frivolous appeals all the way to the Supreme court as a delay tactic
And Trump gets his delay in his #jan6th #USAvsTrump trial. Argument will be made to #scotus for Trumps claims of immunity in weeks or months. Trial might be delayed until August
