NEW: Special counsel Jack Smith files his SCOTUS brief in opposition to Trump's request for a stay in the presidential-immunity case—six days early
"A President’s alleged criminal scheme to overturn an election and thwart the peaceful transfer of power to his successor should be the last place to recognize a novel form of absolute immunity from federal criminal law."
And Trump gets his delay in his #jan6th #USAvsTrump trial. Argument will be made to #scotus for Trumps claims of immunity in weeks or months. Trial might be delayed until August
Here is the old timeline I posted back in Feb 6. We are now in the Left column. arguments are now April 22. So ALito was able to drag it out about a month. you can adjust it as you see fit.
But #Chutkan could have her starter gun loaded and everything ready to start the Trial as soon as #SCOTUS makes a decision because everyone got a few extra months
#USAvsTRUMP #jan6th trial restarting in 90 Days.
Judge #Chutkan has already announced that she will re-start the trial about 90 days after she gets it back, election calendar be damned. A briefing schedule for which acts immunity is claimed under the newly-announced rule can fit within that time.
Clock restarted in #USAvsTRUMP after #SCOTUS returns ruling to appeals court and they quickly send it back to Judge #Chutkan to reassess
Very likely not have any hearings until after the Election
mission accomplished by #FedSoc and team Trump

Judge #Chutkan quickly approved Smith's three-week delay, a tacit acknowledgment that the case is unlikely to produce significant new developments this year, and a trial is a long way off. Next update Aug 30th
Also #Chutkan is refusing to accept amicus briefs from outside parties (looks at Kash Patel and Judge Cannon)
