Having seen Hitler’s rise to power firsthand while growing up in Berlin, Germany, my mom - now 99 years old - vowed to do all she could to fight fascism. She arrived in America in February,1940. As a teenager, she took an arduous job working in a Boston area factory stamping out ammunition boxes for our troops. She has voted in every election since becoming eligible. It’s almost a relief that her cognition is diminishing as fascism takes root here. It would be unbearable for her to watch.
