Americans:
Has this last election, perhaps literally, made you question the wisdom of a democratic republic? How can we continue to believe Americans will do the right thing when they've just proven that even a minority of them can ruin everything for everyone else?
@Jeber Oh no. The democratic republic is still the best form of government.
Now, will Americans “do the right thing?” Certainly not. Reconsider Any Belief In Innate American Goodness. Violence and anger is as American as apple pie. Be clear headed about this.
Remember the long arc of the African American experience.
Remember that they built their own wealth and prosperity and, yet, a state government firebombed them from the sky. (Tulsa).
There will always be racists and bigots.

Therein lies the dilemma.
Can the American Experiment actually work? Why are we so reticent to make changes like eliminating the Electoral College? Why can’t/won’t we update our system to include all Americans?
