Do you ever use the word ‘curate’ in any other context beyond the Internet?
@Jeber Totally. I run a very small comic book shop and we have to curate every inch of it to make sure only the best books are on display. The word gets used daily.
@Jeber
Nope.
@Jeber The internet is that last/least/worst place I use that word :)
Curating unorganized streams of mostly ephemeral/superfluous data is high-effort, low reward. Doable, but usually hard to justify. archive.org is a monumental and awesome example, and gets the tippity tips of the tsunami(s).
Curating monographs, maps, digital _publications_, sounds, etc etc; cool and fun. And hard. But fun.
@Jeber: Affirmative.
@Jeber
I was trying to think of that word about three days ago and never could 😆
