Today's curiosity question:
TFG's fourth-grade level logorrhea has made popular a certain class of phrase often called 'sales talk." It's a pattern I find highly offensive, and one which is now being mirrored by most Republican talking heads.

Several times a day, I hear claims that start with "Everyone is saying that..." or "As you are no doubt aware..." or "As we all know..."

Is there a psychological term for this pattern? I've looked and cannot find anything. Perhaps presumptuous projection?

The way I interpret it is an effort to avoid responsibility for what they’re claiming. They are claiming the source to be someone else or the “fact” to already be widely accepted.
I hate it when anyone says, “And you know it, too”. My reply is usually, “Don’t fucking tell me what I know”.

@Jeber I agree. What's bugging me, though, is trying to find the proper term (probably a psychological one) for this particular type of mindvirus. 🙂
