There's a reason we call it "getting away from it all". We need to unplug. That works best for humans, in my completely uninformed opinion, if we actually reduce all stimulation to a bare minimum for however long it takes to get our balance back.
In my case, I would take my phone and wear my watch, but primarily for health reasons.
But I remember week-long hikes in Idaho, just me and the dogs. Looking back I realize no one knew where I was or anything.
Now they'll know.
