So, I now understand that Titanic submersible was de-rated due to cyclic hull loading and no longer reliable enough to make the required depth. As horrible and end that a hull implosion would be, it's probably still better than slowly freezing and suffocating because there's no way to get them back to the surface assuming they can even be found.
