Have you tried rolling the cat up in a towel, like a burrito? You can pull one paw out at a time.
But after DECADES of CATS & CAT CARE- I've got a couple that go to the vet for the mani/pedis. It's $14 because I'm I've been there so long... but it's WORTH IT.
One of my cats bites her nails, and keeps them very tidy. The others: #MurderClaws
@QueenOfEverything I think I need to get her back to the vet for this task. She’s large and in charge so I typically bundle myself up in a thick robe when I bring out the trimmer. I need to try wrapping her in a giant towel! Good advice!

actually you hold her (back against your front) & then wrap the towel around her. but my cats know how to squish their toes together so their paws still fight with me.
i've sworn my vet to secrecy. everyone thinks i'm a cat expert.
or maybe, just a #CrazyCatLady- but i'm trying to maintain my street cred.
