Parasitism: When an organism or entity uses up the resources and life processes of a host, without regard to the welfare of the host.

Parasites take more than they give back. They typically lose the ability to provide for themselves, and instead survive off the resources of other creatures instead.

It is a selfish transaction, where the host is weakened.

It is not symbiosis. It's not even predation.

And we've allowed them to run our civilization to their benefit.

@AskTheDevil so you are saying Humans are the parasites, and the earth is the host.

@JGNWYRK No, I'm saying humans are being parasitized, too, and our parasites are arranging the entire society of humanity to be better hosts, and they are using _us_ to parasitize the rest of the planet.

Humans are part of the earth also. If you look at the whole earth as an organism, humans are one of the major organs.

And they've been colonized by a parasitic disease that turns them against themselves and their own ecosystem.

We need to heal humanity, not "cure" the earth of humanity.

@AskTheDevil Yet we meet the definition. We are using up the resources of the host without regard to welfare of said host.

We are taking more than we are giving back, and are surviving off of the resources of other creatures and entities.

Host is being weakened, and it is rather selfish of us overall.

@JGNWYRK I agree. But I'm still on the side of saving humanity and helping it free itself of the sickness driving them mad, not eliminating them.

To me, that would be like saying "Welp, your brain has cancer, so we're going to remove it."
