@badger33 And I understand that Trump's complaining about the 2% part, but I guess my overall question is about overseas military spending (sorry, kinda hastily tooted the first time) that's prompted by Trump's complaints about NATO spending. How big should our footprint be overseas, and is our footprint so large because other countries (whether NATO or not) don't spend as much or do we need that large footprint to serve our interests anyway? @badger33 One interesting thing in the convo I linked to is that there doesn't seem to be an accurate accounting of how much $$ we spend overseas ... from a low $ of $21B reported by military every year to a high $ estimate by one economist of $250B. That's a huge part of the budget.
