When people say Capitalism is the answer to everything I like to remind them that aspirin is something of a miracle drug but because there is no profit in it it is not being properly studied for all of its potential benefits.

This is an example of why pure Capitalism, like pure Communism, is not a workable idea in the long run. We have never had a true one of either in the world because it’s impossible. Some socialism must be present in capitalism and vice versa, for it to ever really work.

@Iskios This is another issue I feel so bad for my high school teachers about. We "knew" by then that the good teachers were leaving the state for better pay (some of the lowest teacher's salaries in the nation), but now I see the ones who chose to stay were quietly slipping us info like "it's corruption, not the system of government, that is the problem." They knew it's a red state, they were like quiet warriors of critical thought.

@tippitiwichet It isn't just corruption, though. The system itself is designed to be greedy and exploitative. The idea that Capitalism is balanced is a myth, and not the fun Gods of Asgard type.
