I'd like to see annual reviews done away with entirely, & feedback be continuous throughout the year.
Where I work, your annual cost of living increase is tied to how well you do on your annual review. That's some rank-ass bullshit right there.
I'm really not looking forward to learning about all the ways I've screwed up in the past year. That's what these things are to me, even when the feedback is good. Because there's always supposed to be room for improvement, so the business culture encourages managers to look for fuckups.
Yeah, I don't do well emotionally w/reviews.
@Impious_Jade I'm no mental health expert, but it sounds like you are suffering from depression. Could be SADD (Seasonal Affective Depressive Disorder) Hope you feel better.
@Jacki I do have Major Depressive Disorder. Not seasonal, but does have ups & downs.
@Impious_Jade I hear you.
. Take care of yourself.😊
@Impious_Jade We have them where I work, but I encourage my teams to keep journals of their accomplishments during the year, so it's easy to upload them at each quarterly checkpoint and then at the annual review time.
It eliminates the hours of frantic BS writing at the end of the year - the reviews have written themselves! 💃
@Impious_Jade I always wonder, how is a supervisor actually qualified to review my job performance....
I feel like I've had a particularly bad year, especially the last couple of months. Some of that is my perfectionism talking, & some of it is that no, I actually have been sucking the past couple of months: forgetting things, unable to focus, making errors & not dealing with shit very well.
