This past weekend it really sank in that the fight against fascism never really finishes. & that's the way it is.

There will never be a point in time where fascism, authoritarianism, xenophobia, & all things that threaten the liberty & freedom of human beings everywhere, will just be gone or finally eliminated.

Which could be a frustrating thing: i.e., holy shit we have to keep DOING this, have to keep fighting, can't we stop? Can't we rest for once, for good?

And it doesn't feel that way to me. It's actually kind of a relief, because I feel like it isn't a failure.

I don't feel like we got to some final end point & it was knocked down & good people failed. I feel like we've had some good times & hard work & things have been good sometimes & shit other times & there's an acceptance that that's how it goes. & the only failure is to stop fighting entirely.

Not sure if that makes any sense. I haven't had coffee yet this morning so maybe it isn't as coherent as I'd like.

I just don't feel, today, like having to fight a resurgence of right-wing bullshit is a failure of those who fought it in the past. It isn't. It's just the nature of shifting
ideologies & times & so on.

& for me, feeling like it isn't a failure makes it easier for me to keep fighting, remembering that the fight against fascism is a marathon, not a sprint.

@Impious_Jade I know that feeling. I'm not human until I've had a mug of Joe or three!
