Get this. This morning my wife got a call from the county health department. They wanted to speak to a Janet (not our last name). Someone had reported being bitten by a cat, and gave them our our address and phone number, together with a presumably phony name. And we don't have a cat. Haven't for 25 years.
My wife straightened them out, then 2 hours later a county animal control officer was in our driveway, wanting to "take our cat into custody". Sheesh, red state bureaucrats are morons.
Oh, this gets funnier and funnier. I had my wife give me the phone number of the health department guy who called her initially. I called him and we discussed it. It turns out that the REPORT and associated information (the name, our address, and my wife's phone number) came from the local hospital...reporting an animal bite.
The same hospital that my wife spent most of her weekend in (ER and ICU) due to pneumonia and a UTI.
WTF? Anyway, the guy apologized nicely.
@TwiHusband During COVID my mom was in the hospital for pneumonia for many days. No visitors. Dad called hospital every day, wanting to know how she was and the staff kept saying the Dr. would call.. on day 4 with no doctor I dawned my bandana over my face and went to the hospital.
Explained everything nicely to the 1 lady they had out front. "After several days, I now stand her and have to ask you, is my mother alive? Can you find out for me?"
Hospitals in St Louis be very meh!
