AITA: I put in a pickup order at a local restaurant. 4 meals and one appetizer, comes out to a bit over $100s. I go in, pick up the order to take it home. The receipt has a section for a tip and I dont leave one. As I am walking out the door i hear a comment about $100 order and no tip.

Are we seriously at the point where tipping is expected simply for running my credit card and handing me two plastic bags with 5 cartons of food!?

@Idrake

Counterpoint: They did more than just put your food into a bag. They took your order either by phone or online, they cooked and prepped the food, they put it in to-go containers instead of their normal serving dishes in such a way as to keep it at least warm, then they got it bagged up for you, and probably pulled a staff person off the floor to do all of this-which is where they would normally get their tips. A tip acknowledges that they did all this for your convenience.

@whonat that is an opinion. I do see it differently. I will tip when the level of effort and the service warrants it.
