A couple years ago, I tried to raise some swallowtail caterpillars I found on my fennel. Only one survived to adulthood, but she was a beauty. #butterfly
Although I had a small fennel plant again this year, for whatever reason there were no caterpillars on it.
@KarenSohne I did have a milkweed that came back this year that I wasn't expecting. It got plenty of some kind of little moth visitors, and unfortunately plenty of aphids, but I didn't happen to see any swallowtails or monarchs on them. I've only seen one monarch so far in my neighborhood this fall...
@HaikuHedgehog Have you got room for some milkweed? Different butterflies/caterpillars need different plants to feed on before pupating.
