McD will make it clear via unofficial channels that the current franchise owner has no chance of getting the franchise contract renewed.
The current owner will then sell the franchise plus the operating license from McDonalds, in order to not be left with a junk property. McDonalds will readily agree to the transfer of the franchise agreement.
McDonalds gets rid of an asshole franchisee, asshole gets to walk away. A win:win.

@Graci McDonalds HQ in France has clearly told the franchise that they are not going to get corporate support for behaving like assholes.
