@Graci

".... and I mention to transgender Americans, I have your back."

Oh my! Do you think he overdid it?
<I say sarcastically>

... and to my ears it sounded unintelligible... trains gender ?

That's not enough to ward off any of the vitriol and hateful rhetoric; especially in the downballot where hate is sometimes a conservative's only issue.

I would have preferred him spanking the haters. That was nothing more than a thoughts and prayers moment of do-nothing rhetoric.

@Priestess Nothing he would have said or not said would ward off the vitriol. He's been an advocate for years. (Though, not always. He learned.)

@Graci He said the same thing in his first joint address to Congress in 2021. I'm still waiting to see exactly how, because I sure don't see many of these anti-trans laws around the country getting smacked down.

@AngryCanadianGamer Yeah. Agreed. To be fair, his power is limited in that respect. He could take exec action but won't before the election. That would be a total disaster for him and us,

@Graci Cool. So when are you going to make the VA cover gender-affirming surgeries, Joe?

When are you going to start suing states and school systems that pass rules targeting trans kids?

When are you going to have CMS enforce WPATHv8 SoC on insurer?

When are you going to have CMS mandate gender-affirming care coverage?

When are you going to say you'll veto KOSA if it hits your desk?

It was a good speech, yes, and I'm obviously voting blue, but the level of "having our back" isn't very high.
