People wonder why I don’t tell my kids to “trust a policeman” and say I’m “politicizing” everything. Fuck that. They just found 215 bodies buried and hidden behind a prison. The police ordered inmates to bury them & hid EVERYTHING. https://www.wsws.org/en/articles/2024/01/10/dncr-j10.html
@LnzyHou exactly. Their job is to put people in jail and they see it as "us against them". We are "them", being brown makes it a little worse here in Cali, but I being black is a whole different ballgame.
Makes me sick to my stomach.
We elected the first black Sheriff of Buncombe County NC. His experience as Asheville cop & approach to cop retraining is amazing.
@Gambit_1 . It turns out, minorities are not paranoid/suspicious/untrusting enough. Many of us are just finding out why.
@Gambit_1 People need to go to prison over this obstruction of justice.
@Gambit_1 Most officers are good and trustworthy but not all. It's the bad ones that give them all a bad name.
Whoever murdered those people--and yes it was murder--must be identified and brought to justice. Give them time to investigate and it won't be quick.
@danielbsmith I've know (and know) many cops and there are plenty that are good people and some of them are actual heroes. But the problem isn't that some of them are bad, its that the ones that are bad have guns and authority and abuse that authority without the proper checks being in place. So you are 100% correct. This is about holding them accountable, even if it takes time. But I doubt they will. We'll see...
@Gambit_1
I taught my sons to be careful around police. Not The Talk mothers of color have with their kids (could be deadly), but do not trust anything they say. Ever.
When you grow up in Detroit area, you learn.
