This is a small and mostly unimportant point, but I thought the days of pronouncing “nuclear” as “nucular” ended with Dubya, yet I’m still hearing otherwise intelligent folks mispronouncing this rather simple word all over the place. Why?
@dratino You’re most definitely not the only one! I mean, there are much bigger concerns of course, given that this is so awful for Ukraine, but I just don’t get how this word’s pronunciation seems to be up for debate.
@GEAUXJayna I think if it as intellectual laziness. If you can read you can see all those vexing syllables and how they line up. I mean, really.

@Idrake Mispronunciations and bad grammar and spelling make me twitch a bit too. I shouldn’t care so much, but alas, I do. My mom is the same way.
