@Selcoeurl They have excellent flavor and they were incredibly easy to grow. My orange carrots are minuscule by comparison. My wife is not entirely a fan of eating purple dishes (and any dish you put these in is definitely going to be purple), but she's adjusting.
@Foxthorn I've noticed that they tend to be sweeter and more intense. My spouse also had a bit of adjustment time, but ultimately succeeded in that regard.

I much prefer the flavor of these over the orange carrots. I also like white carrots when mild is what is called for. But orange are attractive, so I grow all three.
@Foxthorn Is it just me, or do black carrots have better flavor? Maybe it's the anthocyanins?
