@XanHart nice!!! one of my two pears is struggling with blight. The other is a moonglow, which is disease resistant and doing great.

@Foxthorn

I’m excited about the moon glow. How old is your tree?

@XanHart three years old I think. I got it from Stark Bros and it has done fabulously. My cherry suddenly died after the first year...it was very weird. I suspect the blight pear is going to have to be replaced after this year. It is not doing well.

@Foxthorn

Starkbros is bae fersher.

I bought a honey sweet pear that got the blight last year.

They are in their growing phase so I’m not worried about fruiting yet. But. I hope it gets some height.

@XanHart if the blight doesn't kill this pear...I probably will with all the pruning of the blighted limbs.

@Foxthorn

Well my extension office says moonglow and honeysweet have moderate resistance.

Rip my bartlet though.

@XanHart I feel like every pear that Stark Bros listed as a pollinator for the Moonglow was susceptible but I need to go review. If I can find a pollinator for it that is disease resistant, I'll replace Blighty McBlight Pear

@XanHart FWIW I have moonglow and honeysweet....now I wonder which one is actually sick..

@Foxthorn

Best there is is moderate resistant. Looks like Seckle pollinates with moonglow.

Follow

@XanHart in your opinion is it worth trying to save the blighty tree or is it a goner?

@Foxthorn

Well. From what I read. There is no cure, only control. Cryin shame but you might want to pull it and burn it.

But. I am not an expert. That’s @Kurtroedeger lol

@XanHart @Kurtroedeger maybe better to start over now than waste time trying to save it. stark bros has free ship today.

@Foxthorn @XanHart

Its a tough call on saving the blighted ones. Is there a treatment for it? Probably, but sometimes that costs more than a new resistant tree.
It's not one to just toss in a rubbish heap, it needs to go to a landfill to help stop the spread.

@Kurtroedeger @XanHart I would assume the new tree should be planted in a different location and the existing blight site should be abandoned for awhile?

@Foxthorn @XanHart never a bad idea to leave barren for a bit. Your local ag extension would have the best info or a local nursery, for whatever is affecting you.

@Kurtroedeger @XanHart Thank you both for the assistance this morning. I have ordered a replacement tree :)
