Had a hankering for pasta tonight, so it was penne regate with marinara, sweet & hot sausage, meatballs, and garlic toast. The sausage cooked up nicely in the #AirFryer with minimal supervision. It really hit the spot!

Looks good. I almost went to pasta tonight too but instead...cheese and crackers and pistachios. Tomorrow may be pasta day?

I've got a bunch of mini projects done and today I power washed the roof and the patio all day - preparing to pour leveler on the roof in the next little bit and that is so that I have a substrate for tile. Apart from that short visit to the beach and visits to good food I just picked up a couple tacos I have a meeting in about 15 minutes that I plan to be silent and unseen in order to eat them.
@Ironworker229
6"of concrete. It was never sealed or finished to my knowledge. And this is the second power wash. It's very much a rough roof. But it's lovely up there. So knocking the tops off the high spots. And pouring leveler will give me a nice surface to work on. And I think it's a project I can do in bite sizes of about 6 ft by 7 ft or 40 square feet.
@FireMonkey Oh, nice! That looks like a great spot! Have you settled on the tile, yet? Something similar to what's at the bottom of the pic?
@Ironworker229
Sanded 16x16 rock cobble style. No slips! Similar to this on the ground level entry terazza.
@FireMonkey 16x16 - sweet! Nice that it has some physical as well as visual texture, for sure.
@Ironworker229
Access is interesting, but it will be sweet finished with tile. 90°F in the shade under the fan ain't bad. There's usually breezes too.
@FireMonkey The spiral is a classic for squeezing a stair into a small spot and much better than a ladder! Maybe you could rig up a 2 person cable elevator! That space looks awesome, though it could maybe use a bar?😆
I'm going to put in a wood staircase with a wider landing. Can't get anyone to build me a metal one - price and timing. I own a hammer, not a welder, so...
@FireMonkey Yup, gotta use what ya got!
@FireMonkey Have you built stairs before? Just asking because we do a LOT of metal pan and precast concrete tread stairs and there are some things to be aware of.
@Ironworker229
Many times.
My treads don't trip you.
#IYKYK 😉
@FireMonkey Right on! I kinda figured, but as you know, it can be the little things if it's a new endeavor. 👍
@Ironworker229
Love a new endeavor!
If it's worth doing, it's worth doing 3 times.
1st, R&D, test build,
scrap material
2nd, looks good, from here.
3rd, there ya go!
@FireMonkey Hah! I'm not a wood guy by any stretch, but we do enough steel in stick buildings that I'm a bit familiar. I suppose pressure treated is a must in your climate (?) Will the stringers be 2x12's or...? I can't really tell the rise from the pic, so can't guess the overall span.
@Ironworker229
Wood rots steel rusts. I'll send you the plans - come on down I'll give you a vacation and we can build a set of metal stairs.⛱️
@FireMonkey Hah! I may take you up on that...Sometime!
@Ironworker229
I have a mini fridge, portable propane bbq grill, & gas burner, for the outdoor kitchen. Still to come; sink, and this U shaped butcher block top I just acquired from a friend may come in useful...looks like a bar to me.🍻
@FireMonkey Not surprised that you're way ahead of me!
@Ironworker229
Just running between the raindrops ☔
Literally. It's been raining so much. If I didn't get wet I wouldn't get anything done. Last outburst this afternoon I grabbed the mop and mopped down my truck which was covered with cat prints, pigeon poop, and dirt, while it poured.
@FireMonkey You're making me jealous! We haven't had measurable rain for months around here and it just cracked 110 today. Enjoy the outdoor showers!
@Ironworker229
I've got a hoist setup in the corner that can lift from the sidewalk. Need to build a lift box for the cement sacks and tile to come. Or maybe just use a net bag, or a "super sack" they have for gravel/sand. I've got it rigged with 1/8th in steel cable right now - I don't think it's best for humans who want to
@FireMonkey Hah! Progress, beach, and tacos for the win! What's your roof substrate, plywood? What kind of tile are you going with?
