Just watched again the 1978 Battlestar Galactica two-parter, "War of the Gods."

For those of us who took the ride that season, this two-parter entirely changed the series.

Creator Glen Larson wrote the scripts. They were laden with biblical metaphor. Original BSG had origins in the Mormon religion, but these scripts borrow heavily from the Bible.

BSG had its own unique language, a certain lyricism.

Too bad this "good vs. evil" battle never had a chance to continue.

That was about the time the first of the mega churches - small by today's standards - was built in my little college town and we referred to it as Battle Church Galactica.

@FireMonkey Lots of other influences -- Erich von Däniken's "Chariots of the Gods," Egyptology, various religions. "Iblis" is the Islamic name for the leader of the devils.

In the final episode of "Galactica 1980," Larson brought back Starbuck in a flashback. He "died" to save one of the angels and her infant. Larson had a script in development that would have brought back Starbuck again, as one of the angels on The Ship of Lights.
