Well, fun fun fun.
Downstairs heater is out.
Guests let me know it was 55F this morning. Checked all the usual things, no help. Swapped out an extra control board I had, no help. Gas control valve can't really be tested, just have to swap it. $300-$750 depending on source, Monday. /sigh

UPDATE:
Take it apart, put it back together, test for current in the right places, bang on it*, curse at it a litte, silently. Turn it all on again. Nothing.

Tap the valve just so...

Viola! Success! Heat!

Time for a Toddy!

*No parts (human or otherwise) were injured in the making of this repair.

@FireMonkey That is no fun. Nice you have the skills to fix and don’t have that expense too.

@realDDGlover

OTJ training. And a natural knack for taking things apart. Hey, if it's already broke now...

I took apart an heirloom mantle clock when I was about 10 or so - had it all apart on the living room floor b/c it didn't "gong".

Dad came home from work and just said I'd better be able to put it back together. I did, and it "gonged".

Been fixing things ever since.

@FireMonkey
It is a wonderful skill to have.

As a kid hubby took out the motor of the family lawnmower and built a go cart. I’m not sure that went over well.
