@FireMonkey Morning π
@Mandypar
Good morning Mandy! How's your day been over there across the pond? Thank you for the personal hello - I never know whether to pick out people individually or just greet CoSo family in general. It's quite nice of you. π
@Mandypar
So many people are doing it from the grassroots up without a plan to integrate community solar for a while. They really need to get sold around roofs and make microgrids. Then connect them to the larger infrastructure. /rant π«€
@FireMonkey The failure to do something central is a shame as I'm sure solar could be done in parallel with infrastructure and then at least it could be done properly. It would be much harder to try and do that retrospectively.
Thankfully in the UK we have a national grid for electricity and so our panels feed into the national grid with any that is spare (and we get paid for what we generate no matter how much we send).
@Mandypar
Yeah it's technical but it's not rocket surgery, we have the means and the knowledge and the money is sitting there. Bureaucracy and greed. But the people are leading - there are two or three local cooperatives that have set up to build from the ground up community solar.
@Mandypar
I'm trying to find solar panels and batteries here for the house in Puerto Rico. The island's electrical grid is so fragile and they've got money for reconstruction since hurricane Maria, but the powers that be insist that they must repair the traditional infrastructure before they get solar panels on roofs, and that's just crazy.
