@tirebiter73 Jabba the Huckster was born June 14, 1946; Bill Clinton August 19, 1946. Bill is younger by 2 months.

Almost seemed like Clinton was speaking off the cuff. But then that’s his M.O.

@LnzyHou @tirebiter73 I think there is a collective cringe whenever Bill takes the podium. He managed to state some good things, but I'm eager for class of '24 to make some amazing political headway.

@FinnegansWhacked @tirebiter73

Agree. I was shocked by how elderly he seems. Where do the decades go?

@LnzyHou @tirebiter73 Yeah, and thinner. I think he's had that tremor for a decade or more. We's all a bit older now! 😋 And, I avoid mirrors. Damn things lie to me every day now!

@FinnegansWhacked @LnzyHou @tirebiter73 I thought Bill Clinton's speech was well-crafted (he was actually using paper and not a teleprompter) and funny. I think it's incredibly important that the world sees that Harris and Walz are supported by all the senior Democratic leadership as well as the exciting young progressive voices.

@Notokay @FinnegansWhacked @tirebiter73

It was paper because he wrote it at the last minute. Apparently he didn’t like the tone of the original speech.

@Notokay @FinnegansWhacked @LnzyHou @tirebiter73

I agree - especially if the goal is to win over voters previously uncommited or Trumpers. You want them to see just how big the tent is, especially since some of those demographics lean older than the Dems. Everybody should be able to see themselves in the Democratic Party. Nobody should look and feel the train has passed them by and it's too late to jump on board .

@BrazenlyLiberal @Notokay @LnzyHou @tirebiter73 All good points. The Dem Party truly is a large tent, and as of the last decade, seemingly the only party that is actually invested in genuine debate and governance. I have often wondered if today's GOP is destined to extinction, and the more centrist part of the Dem Party cleaves to create a new Party - a credible counterpoint- to the progressives. That is, if it is still important to have two (or more) defined, legitimate political parties.

@FinnegansWhacked @Notokay @LnzyHou @tireadores!

It'll be interesting to watch what happens to the GOP after Trump. I imagine a power struggle would ensue, but after that?

Parties have come & gone in the past, but modern communication has stretched the reach & speed of info so they have less chance to bubble up from the districts.

I can imagine 3 major parties for a while - the Dems, the GOP, and the party that breaks loose from the GOP. It could be a chance for a truly viable 3rd party.

@LnzyHou @BrazenlyLiberal @Notokay Yeah. Let's hope that is the last sputtering of the Tea Party.

@LnzyHou @FinnegansWhacked @Notokay

Could be. Could be. You may be dead right. And what a foul gathering that would be!

In a way, that could be very good. The worst of the worst would have even fewer voters than the GOP has now. The noncrazy people could rebuild a sane Republican Party- the loyal opposition we need and they should be.

@BrazenlyLiberal @FinnegansWhacked @Notokay

They would eventually destroy themselves. Hate is not sustainable. They will poison themselves and each other.
