But before anyone wrings their hands about this propelling him to victory remember that he's famous for agonizing about who's out to get him. Before he can turn this atrocity into sympathetic victory he has to get his shit together and come out the other end of this. He's spent the weeks before this on the golf course worrying about what to do next. What do you think he's doing now as he 'recovers'?

@AskTheDevil Going through Army basic training in the early '90s the last range involved applying all the learned knowledge from the entire cycle, punctuated by a steady incoming barrage of tracer rounds some 15' overhead. Why waste ammunition by shooting it in such a way that anyone downrange can be assured of their safety? Because even if you know none of them are for you, being in the incoming side of gunfire is life-changing.

Things will look different to you than they will look to a creature that doesn't share that sensibility.
Or someone who spends a _lot_ of time in a fantasy world of their own making. It may not have been real to him in the way that your actual training was to you, with your understanding of the impact of bullets on a human or other living thing.
