@Pungent Not at all. No one is above criticism. I’m just saying that he’s far from the doddering fool the media has been making him out to be since the awful debate. I’ll take the guy who makes gaffes (as he’s been famous for his entire career) over the felon and adjudicated rapist who wants to shred the constitution and worse.
I'd say it was an alright performance, kinda weird energy at first, but he got through it.
Glad it wasn't all softball questions, too.
My concern was then, and still is; will he take the bait on stage again whenever trump goes on a dumb tangent that doesn't deserve response?
@Pungent @FabulousLVNV Wasn't the rule that they couldn't interrupt each other?
So Biden would have had to give up his time to rebut everything, and Trump said a thousand things that weren't true, didn't he?
The _moderators_ are supposed to call out lies. If they just ask questions and let the fur fly, they're not moderating, they're just ringleading.
He could have called out the obvious reverse gish gallop for being weaksauce and continued on his merry way.
@Pungent @FabulousLVNV I wish he had. But I wish lots of stuff! ; )
@Pungent I’m wondering what the rules will be for ABC; if they’re the same or different from CNN’s. Hopefully, whatever the rules, this time there will be fact-checking involved with mics turned off during the fact check.
I'm not entirely certain fact checking should come from a moderator. Having the candidates argue with the moderator isn't the intention. And I figure it's up to the opponents to supply rebuttal.
Also, fact checking doesn't work when the person lying is lying to people who know they're lying.
If Biden really wants to win, he should take a page from César Millan. By not rewarding disruptive behavior with attention, and remaining calm and assertive.
@Pungent It’s tough when the lies are so numerous and being spewed in rapid fire succession. Dude won’t shut up. There must be a strategy to deal with this type of behavior. Does Biden split his time by addressing the lies and contrasting those lies with his answers to the moderator’s questions? It’s a tough nut to crack. No political candidate in my memory has lied like trump does. It’s crazy!
It's not. When trump is going off on a tangent, the correct thing to say is "Are you okay? Because you're not making any sense right now."
trump is banking on two things: the mere exposure effect is slowly making his nonsense seem ordinary, and liberals freaking out about _anything_
that really is the only thing republicans follow; their biggest troll.
As long as they are upsetting someone they don't respect, they feel their life has purpose.
That's literally all they want.
@FabulousLVNV @Pungent I am with you on this.
@Pungent @FabulousLVNV I criticize him all the time! I never wanted him there in the first place.
But I think the way both the media and fellow Democrats behaved after the debate was abysmal, and bad tactics when this election is so close already.
I know he has to project strength but I think if he was less "come at me bro" and more receptive to criticism, it would've gone smoother.
He dropped he ball by accepting the premise that he changed from being a "bridge" to "It's My Job! And Mine Alone, Jack!"
A perfect opportunity to showcase how he is working together with Kamala ("she's doing great work for women's rights" felt patronizing in a way only old white guys trying to sound progressive can.)
@Pungent @FabulousLVNV Well, it's easy to criticize from where we sit, after the fact, I suppose.
I just hope he can do better from here on out, and so for his team.
@FabulousLVNV I wasn't on the side tearing him down. This time.
; )
@FabulousLVNV
I guess if you think he's above criticism
