I am pleased that no traces of the lizzo flute discourse can be found here. Genuinely reflects well on this place.
@Expecting_Words and yet ... you just brought it in 😜
@thewebrecluse *looking at box full of demons*
I can definitely close this box it'll be fine.
@Expecting_Words *hands you a shovel* please bury your dybbuk box away from the good folks of CoSo ❤️ much obliged. 😄
@Expecting_Words that sounds so mysterious & i have no idea what you're talking about.
but i'm ever curious so now i'm wondering.
not enough to go onto twitter. but i'm sure a new squirrel will come my way soon & i'll be onto something new. 😜
@singlemaltgirl lizzo is arguably the most famous flutist in the world and she played James Madison's crystal flute. Ppl online became enraged for some reason (racism).
@Expecting_Words i didn't know that. i thought she was a singer. or maybe that's a diff lizzo.
& now i must google james madison's crystal flute b/c i didn't know there was such a thing :)
@singlemaltgirl she is also a singer, you are thinking of the correct person
@Expecting_Words i had no idea she was a flautist, too. how talented! cool.
@Expecting_Words I used to play flute and rest assured I was nowhere near as good as Lizzo! Not even close.
I'm not gonna lie, my reaction was "Wait wouldn't saliva be bad on an old wooden flute, oh wait, it's not wood, OOOOOOH people are freaking out cuz she's black!"
@Jeast yeah ppl really showed their whole a**
@Jeast in my experience, wooden instruments are typically damaged by cold, dry conditions. That damage can happen pretty fast.
For moisture to be an issue you need prolonged exposure or actual liquid spilled on the instrument. I've repaired classical instruments - professionally for a time - and even a very old flute can handle being played as long as it is cleaned afterwards.
