In my opinion.. Kyle Rittenhouse is no hero and open carry/self-defense does not apply to him as a line of defense. I agree with McCain in the graphic below.

@ChippySuave Not a hero. Just a stupid, scared kid, in the wrong place and the wrong time for the wrong reasons.

Two of the "protestors" who arrived to burn down that car repair shop were carrying handguns illegally. One of them has already been charged with firing the first shots. The second one, minus his right bicep, has already testified on the stand that he pointed his gun at Rittenhouse.

The kid didn't attack anyone. They attacked him. Which makes self-defense an absolute defense.

@Render @ChippySuave if you bring an AR 15 to a protest, you're the aggressor. He didn't own that car repair shop. He wasn't defending his property. He sought out violence.

@Render @ChippySuave if the protesters killed Rittenhouse, they'd rightly be the ones facing prison sentences. The consequences for a gun battle fall on the person who's alive to face them.

@Expecting_Words Quoting myself here, "Don't bring guns to a protest."

But what happened in Kenosha that night was not a "protest", it was a violent armed riot. And the car business that was being targeted for the 2nd straight night was minority owned.

@ChippySuave

@Render Some of the many things I love about you (ahem - as a big brother- ha) is that you always come with receipts for your thoughts. I never worry about having any discussion dissolve into cross words or hurt feelings (mine) from imagining an anger or yelling. I genuinely appreciate your opinion and what you have to add. I also don't feel like I have to prove myself to you.

I cannot emphasize just how important all that is to me.

Granted it was an armed riot.
If the law says there is castle doctrine for businesses, that is the law—for adults who are legally permitted to do so. Wandering around to random locations is unwise and outside the bounds of reasonable défense of your property.

@_Ms_J
Wisconsin does have Castle Law for homes, businesses, and motor vehicles.

Minority owned Car Source had already had two of their three locations burned out the previous day, they asked for volunteers to protect their last location. Those locations were not random.

@Expecting_Words @ChippySuave

@_Ms_J He was walking back and forth between at least two of the locations.
