Why do think some human deaths affect us less than animal deaths?
@Coffee_and_Salt this makes sense to me!
@EllyOnTheGo IMHO, it's because most animals are capable of demonstrating empathy and compassion and some humans are not. It's difficult to extend empathy and compassion to others who can't do the same.
@nursefrombirth this ⬆️
In our own life, maybe because animals love us unconditionally and provide comfort, and it’s comfort without question? True connection we don’t necessarily get with a human.
Outside of our life, possibly because we perceive most animals to be innocent, depending on the situation, some humans might not be or, the human race tires of humans in general, so maybe we have become cynical for our own existence? @EllyOnTheGo
@Armchaircouch definitely!
@EllyOnTheGo we treat our dogs as additional children. It will be hard to let them go someday.
did you suffer the loss of an animal recently? @EllyOnTheGo
😢 oh dear what a beautiful sweetheart
I’m so sorry for your loss 🫂 @EllyOnTheGo
@Armchaircouch thank you, it was a tough one but he's in a better place 💜
@EllyOnTheGo sometimes, I think, it’s because animals are people and people are animals. Some beings are more impactful to us in meaningful ways. And some
beings, human or not, are just negatively impactful and not missed upon their exit.
I feel bad if I step on a worm on a sidewalk. But there’s some kinds of news that just would not affect me that way.
My two cents.
