Very good news for Democrats in the election. Having people going to the polls pissed off that they can't buy fresh fruit for their kids would have been bad.

I would hope that unions don't want to die on the "no-automation" hill. Trying to prevent workers from being "replaced by machines" has driven a lot of industries overseas instead.
Unions need to demand a role in how automation is implemented to protect their members, but if automation lets things be done more cheaply elsewhere --- even if it's ports in Mexico or Canada sending trucks over the border -- it will be inevitable.
