A question that has just occurred to me: is race-baiting demagoguery effective on folks who aren't already racists?
In other words, to get specific, do Trump's and Vance's inflammatory ravings about undocumented people and Jews and Arabs hold any sway over the attitudes of people who aren't already bigoted enough that it resonates with their own feelings?

Probably not, but the average voter has a short attention span. He has to keep them terrified of migrants and communists, or else they might move on to being terrified of self-driving cars and climate change.
