"You shall treat the stranger who sojourns with you as the native among you, and you shall love him as yourself."
Leviticus didn't talk no smack.

@EdgeOErin Is this the same Leviticus that says you're rejected by god if you mix fabrics, or if you eat food that was supposed to be set on fire and given to god as an offering. You're also not allowed to own more than one kind of animal or plant more than one type of crop. You'll also be outcast and against god if you cut your hair, or wear makeup.

Fuck Leviticus!

; )

@AskTheDevil @EdgeOErin Yeah, a lot of the Old Testament is really public health and safety rules dressed up as divine directives. Guess it's a good way to make sure they were heeded.

@AskTheDevil Yes, lots of it to dislike. But I do stand by the empathy and wisdom of the post.

@EdgeOErin I almost feel like saying that "I know Leviticus has a little bad stuff, but this passage is inspirational" is a little bit like saying "Hitler did some bad stuff, but look! He liked animals!"

@AskTheDevil I feel you. I put little stock in most everything in the Bible.

@EdgeOErin I try to do the thing where you read it and try to pick out the nice parts. By the time I'm done, there's nothing left but the Jefferson bible.
