I so miss my dad. Lost him just over a year ago. It feels like yesterday, or perhaps it's been an eternity.
This photo, with my nephew (whom I also miss, but, thankfully, is still with us) was taken 16 years ago when we were whale watching off the coast of Inverness.

I feel my dad when I'm pensive, when I wash my hard-working hands, when I see a crooked tree clinging for life on a rockface. I sense his presence when a dragonfly or kingfisher passes on by. I can still smell his honest sweat, a sweet smell of toil & a job well done. I love him.
