Gotta admit that seeing a right-wing radio host who's caused so much hate and anger against women and immigrants finally get his comeuppance for something that's been an open secret for decades is a pretty good way to start the week. ๐
Day 2 (afternoon):
Two more charges today, and the police say they believe even more young men will come forward now.
And, of course, the Murdoch people are doing what they do when it's one of their own:
"Former chief of staff to Tony Abbott turned Sky News presenter Peta Credlinโs reaction an hour later was to support her longtime โfriendโ. Credlin and Jones co-hosted a program on Sky News before he departed the station in 2021."
@DyDave is he Australia's version of Alex Jones?
Not really. More a Sean Hannity or Rush Limbaugh type than the completely loony type. The whackiest he got was his obsession that the noise of wind farms causes some unspecified medical problem.
He was a speechwriter for a conservative Prime Minister and was the very successful head coach of our national rugby union team in the 80s.
But his main career was bullying politicians with his radio show, and he was particularly bilious towards women. A loathsome character overall.
@DyDave 1 down. A million more to go.
Day 2:
Ah, yes. The stories on the right explain, of course, why this formerly all-powerful radio personality hasn't been arrested before now, even though these allegations have been swirling around for years.
Glossary:
'Liberal' - The Liberal Party is the rough Australian equivalent of the Tory or Republican Parties.
'Silk' - King's Counsel or Senior Counsel: Barristers who make up the senior legal, judicial, and often the political classes.
