@Marlowe2 guessing he knew Biden would play by the rules so they didn't need to get into the deep deep details. Also, as pointed out elsewhere, there has been an investigation going on for well over the years, it just became a Special Counsel thing recently. Trump's is a cheater by nature so he knew he had to have a trainload of evidence.
I could be wrong, but that's how I see it.

Actually, if you read the WaPo article about Merrick Garland's investigation, you would know that there was NO INVESTIGATION GOING ON over the years. Merrick Garland was running out the clock until the Jan6 committee in Congress forced Garland to act.
