Talking to a couple of folks - both extremely religious, both Cuban immigrants, both waffling.
Me: I'm sure Stephen Miller isn't talking about Cubans when he references denaturalizing and deporting Hispanics and Latinos. I mean, the Cuban Adjustment Act was passed in '66 - no one would go back and undo accepted law.

I was wat dinner w/uber conservative family & their friends. We were talking about innocuous subjects, like how burtally hot it had been. I burst out in a lighthearted way & joked, "Well, at least it's not due to climate change!" Everyone laughed and you could see that underneath their gilded exteriors, they do get it. They just can't say it outloud.
There's something about sarcasm &/or humor that can slip past the hardest defenses - sometimes.
