Y'all, this is not how serious universities hire anyone, much less tenure track faculty. This is a really sad joke. Unfortunately, the students are the ones getting the raw end of the deal.

@Cosmichomicide I use protonmail. I'm not sure I understand why someone would insist on that specific service being used for something like this, and it would raise a red flag for me.
Sometimes people want to use alternative privacy communication for reasons that are shady.
I'm pretty sure that academics seeking tenure track positions expect search committees made up of peers, not "Send yer resume to my (non-edu) email."
The substack and the Inside Higher Ed article it came from are both pretty eye-opening.
Especially the part about students not having dorms because the new admin decided they were going to start a baseball team and gave them the rooms.
