OK, I finished my taxes and am annoyed that I'm getting a refund (mostly to a change in state where I work). That said, I have a firm rule that 10% of any unexpected money goes to something non-essential. This keeps me from snapping and spending it all.
So, I love my Litter Robot 4, it's completely awesome. Do I splurge and get a reconditioned Feeder Robot? (I have three cats and OMG the Litter Robot has been life changing.)
For the record, if I'd jumped in on time, I'd have offered the opinion to yes, do that.
Just so you know, that's all.
I'm ridiculously excited. When I got my current job, I told myself I could splurge on the Litter Robot and I really cannot describe how game changing it has been. The cats LOVE it. There is ZERO smell. I have no regrets.
I expect this to be the same. I have a "discount" autofeeder that is "ok" but occasionally leaves the beasts staring at me. No app, tho.
I cannot wait to have their happiness all in one app. 😻
Well shoot, if these things are that practical, have that much positive benefit, perhaps they shouldn't be considered part of your "non-essential" budget, but "essential-adjacent" items, so 50% value toward your 10% limit?
Spend the other 5% on something just for fun.
Side note - for those of you considering the Litter Robot:
I have three cats. I used to empty two litter boxes twice per day with a complete litter change monthly. I used a 32 lb bag of WBCL per month at $30.
I've used one bag every three months and empty it once per week since going with the LR4. I consider that to be positive ROI. YMMV.
