I’m just curious. What is the most depressing book you’ve ever read? For me, it was A Fine Balance. When I thought things couldn’t get worse, they did. Not sorry I read it though. I still think about it from time to time.

It was an Oprah Book Club pick in 2001 I think. That’s what prompted me to read it.

@Novels56 hide the book and refuse to read it again? Possibly? But can you believe I did that to myself twice? Not the hiding it. Just reading it. Thought maybe I just didn’t “get” some deeper thing then was like oh god that’s part of the point too…
