If you drive a manual transmission vehicle and you stop on a hill with a vehicle behind you, do you know how to proceed without rolling back?
#60MinutePoll
@stueytheround They should be in the US, but in general the requirements for a license are very minimal. The poll was prompted by a depressing Reddit thread in which it was apparent many people can't, or can't in a pickup truck with a parking brake.
@Coctaanatis being in the UK, it's a part of the driving test. And, tbh, once you learn it, it's second nature 👍🏻
@MichaelRLaverty @Coctaanatis
In USA, almost all cars are now automatic transmissions - no fun to drive.
@Bix @MichaelRLaverty There are still a lot of manual transmission cars available, but many are sportier models, which is a change from the more basic cars in which they were once common.
Yes, but it's fucking hard and not for the feint of heart.
Also some vehicles are easier to do that with than others. Older manual cars (especially American models) were fucking terrifying in those situations.
@Coctaanatis Hill starts are required to pass the driving test in the UK. Everyone here knows.
