Think this may be also referred to as watermelon tourmaline - just love it
Used to make jewelry and purchased a few much smaller stones

This is an beautiful specimen! Colors are so pure😍!

@CinnamonGirlE gorgeous! 😍 love those colors together Cinny

Came up w my screen name, Umba sapphire, during time period when making jewelry...it's another favorite. It's from the Umba River area of Tanzania. So many different colors (though using a different spelling of sapphire like I did... don't ask me why😩 now reminds me a porn star name lol 😅) ... anyway these are some of the colors of the Umba

@UmbaSaffire
I love how you came up with your name. And these colors are fabulous as well.

What kind of jewelry did you make?

@CinnamonGirlE oh ty! Made mainly earrings, some necklaces - like metal working & mixing different metals, some beadwork. Have a good collection of tools and supplies, hope to get back to it at some point, still have much to learn. Thx for asking.

@UmbaSaffire @CinnamonGirlE

There it is! 🤣 It really is a beauty! It's actually making my mouth water! 🤤

You used to make crystal jewelry TJ?😍 OH wow!

@Spagesgallo1 I puchased much smaller crystal specimens Steph - can't even guess what the one pictured is worth! Tried to incorporate into metal components. More of a gritty style if that makes sense. Want to learn how to inlay enamel in metal - would love working w all the colors. Also need a jewelry kiln...pricy😁 here's some examples (not mine, off the internet)

@UmbaSaffire @Spagesgallo1
I have always found that fascinating. I would love to learn. These are gorgeous.

@CinnamonGirlE yes - looked at some classes at a place called Rio Grande in Albuquerque NM - Rio Grande is a jewelry supply company that sells wholesale, retail, is a precious metal outlet and also committed to education, offering many classes at all levels. A week in ABQ could be great! 😃

@Spagesgallo1

@UmbaSaffire @CinnamonGirlE

Oh, that would be awesome to travel to New Mexico for the course! The company sounds like they cover soup to nuts with the jewelry making! What a great way to take the course and to also explore the area! 😍🤗♥️

@Spagesgallo1
yes they are quite the group! very nice to do business w them😊🌷

@CinnamonGirlE

@UmbaSaffire

That's awesome! It makes the whole journey even more enjoyable! 😊🪷🩷

So I just had a chance to check out the web site and all it offers. It is already loaded with videos. I bet it would be a wonderful place to learn.
And who wouldn't like a week in Albuquerque?

@CinnamonGirlE @UmbaSaffire

It sounds amazing! Plus, like you said, who wouldn't want to get to spend a week in Albuquerque to boot? Win, win! 💛✨️

@CinnamonGirlE yes isn't it something! Here's one of the enameling classes Cin & Steph. Thought you might like to see how they do it...when you have time, if you go in about 35 min, he starts the fun part with the colored glass 😊

I watched a bit of one on stone setting. But I really appreciate the artistry involved with the enamel setting. Thank you for that.

@UmbaSaffire @CinnamonGirlE

Wowza! That's amazing! What a labor of love! I never knew how labor intensive making something like this was! I can understand why the kiln also costs so much! He looks like an amazing teacher! 😊

@Spagesgallo1 yes, think so too. He is so nice to follow - very down to earth and explains things well - also attentive to safety😊🌷

@CinnamonGirlE

@UmbaSaffire

I can see why! It was a pleasure to watch the video. He really is so down to earth. Very good educator! Makes everything so easy to understand! Yes! I noticed that with the safety! He's definitely someone that you would want to learn from! I hope it works out for you! 🙏🤗🪷

@UmbaSaffire @CinnamonGirlE

I really loved it! It was so interesting to learn about that kind of jewelry making! 😊💕

@UmbaSaffire @CinnamonGirlE

Oh, that is a most tempting offer! Really! New Mexico is so beautiful! 💛

@UmbaSaffire
WOW! Those are stunning pieces! What beautiful craftsmanship! I love the idea of doing enamel in metal! That would be so much fun to learn! I understand about the investment in the tools being pricy. I can't imagine what everything you would need would cost. But if you can swing it, follow your passion! Maybe starting small? Don't you love how I'm spending your money? 🤣 I'm just a firm believer in following one's dreams! 💛✨️🌈

@CinnamonGirlE

@Spagesgallo1 spend away Steph 😁! It does look like fun! Haven't fully researched, but would probably be minimum additional $1500 of equipment/supplies. May do it at some point!😊

@CinnamonGirlE

@UmbaSaffire
It really does! Once you fully research it, then you can decide if it's really something you want to pursue! I don't know about pricing, but between equipment and supplies, $1,500 sounds pretty reasonable. Is that including the class? If so, it may definitely be worth it! 😊

@CinnamonGirlE

@Spagesgallo1 that's mostly the cost of the kiln - may be able to find one used 😊
