I don't use GPS. Unless it is a long trip with tricky turns, I don't even use Imaps, Google, or Waze while on the road. No.. I'm going to age myself by admitting I look up the route at home and then handwrite out a basic map and detailed directions.
Why?
I hate trying to decipher the tiny map on the phone while I am driving. And heaven help whoever monkeyed with it and didn't set North at the top!
OTOH, I do have paper maps still in the storage pocket of my car door.
Google Maps gives you verbal directions which are very helpful. Also you can increase size of font and layout.
I too have been saved by being rerouted around huge traffic jams. I travel a great deal in my van in other states and feel like I have a navigator sitting next to me.
@ChippySuave I don't typically glance at it but almost always run Waze when driving around.
I ignored it's advice years ago when driving through Vegas and got stuck in traffic for hours. So now I religiously accept detours around the traffic her that gets worse each year.
