Ants in the Kitchen

I sometimes have tiny "sugar ants" visit the kitchen. This year they came in late July, shortly after we had a nice drenching thunderstorm. They were persistent all over the counters even with my using vinegar/lemon juice to discourage them. They just walked around on the walls instead.

After Tropical Storm Debby came through last week they all disappeared. Not one to be found. Just like they appeared suddenly, they went away.

Nature's mysterious ways.

Same thing here. We didn't have a tropical storm, tho. We were overrun by ants so small we couldn't feel them walking on us. We left no food out anywhere, but they kept coming. Then one day I got up and they were gone.

@BrazenlyLiberal Same! I wonder if it was just a scouting party, and their assignment was to thoroughly search for suitable habitat (including food) and after the allotted time and effort didn't pan out, they moved on?

@BrazenlyLiberal Other than feeding a few to my sundew plant, I basically just scooped them off onto the floor if they were in my way. Glad they moved on under their own volition!
