Dunno if you have these where you live, but we have house caterpillars and I frequently will find one in a glass of water or something. They had to have crawled in so I wonder if they are thirsty, LOL.
But my first exposure to one was taking the last drink of my tepid coffee and there was something ... furryish ... in it. YUK 🤢

TL;DR? They eat other insects,so I love them - just not in my beverages. ;)

We had centipedes when we lived in chicago, but not since. They turned up in the oddest places - top shelf of the linen closet was a winner.
