After bragging about our car never needing repairs, today we have a $4,500.00 repair bill.

It's not too awful - that's the first repair we've needed in 9 years, so it averages out to reasonable. Still....😮

I'm so old (How old are ya?) that I remember $4,500 being a steep price to buy a new car.

@BrazenlyLiberal That's about twice what I spend on a vehicle _and_ any maintenance or repairs over the course of a decade.

I have owned one vehicle that cost that much to purchase. I think the next highest amount I've paid has been about 2k.

Of course, I don't care how they look. I just buy whatever Consumer Reports says stays on the road forever. Then when that vehicle dies, I buy another for less than what I spend on insurance and repeat.
