We are constantly warned criminals are coming for our money & to be careful sending money or personal info to anyone, especially if we don't know them.
Yet at least twice a month I get a bill from some outfit I never heard of. I tell them bluntly to kiss my old but still cute ass, then later learn they are a 3rd party billing service for someone I do owe $
We need a law requiring any business using these services to inform patient/buyer at time of purchase who will be billing them
That happened to us! Chase held our mortgage for 7 or 8 years. We made every payment on time or early and then suddenly got a statement from some outfit we never heard of saying they had the loan now
I called Chase to confirm & they told me not to take it personally. Well I know it's not personal but it sure *felt* that way.
A couple years later we started getting snail spam from Chase wanting us to refinance with them. We said no and told them why.
@BrazenlyLiberal the ones that blow me away are when our house loan was sold to some new outfit & we would just get a letter out of nowhere saying "yeah, you pay us now".
But... isn't that exactly what a scammer would say? Did I just discover a new business model?
